Service Alberta helps to protect Albertans’ privacy and ensures appropriate access to information by administering the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP) and the Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), and by managing the government’s records and information.
The department also develops strategies, policies and service delivery practices for maximizing and standardizing the use of information and communications technology (ICT) across the government through the corporate Information and Services Strategy.
